Purpose of the role:
- Responsible for control systems design and embedded software development. This includes the development of appropriate mathematical models and the interpretation of experimental data.
- Responsible for parameterisation of motor drives and other EV systems.
- To provide technical expertise and to work closely with other engineers to develop and improve control systems (at both motor level and vehicle level).
- You will have the opportunity to push the boundaries of control systems for advanced electric motor and powertrain technologies.
Required skills and capabilities:
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of power electronic converters, inverters, vehicle control systems and related components.
- Strong knowledge of functional safety considerations - item definition, HARA analysis, functional safety goals creation and functional safety concept, etc.
- Be able to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promote effective communication, and provide mentorship to the team members.
- Demonstrate a passion for innovation, keeping up with industry trends, and exploring new approaches to improve efficiency and performance. A solid understanding of the automotive industry and the specific challenges and opportunities related to electric vehicle propulsion systems is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working with simulation and modelling tools to validate and optimise control algorithms.
- Abe to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications and experience:
- Preferably a postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in control systems development, preferably in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
- Proven track record of leading technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in simulation and modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, and PSIM.
- Good understanding of PMAC motor drives and typical algorithms.
- A clear understanding of typical EV systems and schematic layout.
- Clear understanding of electrical fundamentals, experience diagnosing electrical issues and use of tools (oscilloscopes, etc).
- Understanding of the key components in power-electronics designs.
- Experience of CAN-bus communication, DBC files and experience working with software tools (Vector, PEAK etc).
- Experience working with model-based code design.
- Excellent understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prior experience in verification of controls, verification of functional requirements, and performance testing.
