Purpose of the role:
- Definition, development, planning and implementation of tests for the companies range of electric motors and possibly prototype vehicles
- The development of test requirements in conjunction with DVP, 8D, and FMEAs
- In turn this may involve supporting the build and commissioning of test systems and analysis of test data
- Working closely with test technicians who will execute the tests
- Driving product development SOPs in line with product quality standards
Skills / Knowledge Required:
The ideal candidate would be a degree qualified test development engineer that has gained direct experience of the test / development of electric motors or complex electromechanical systems within the automotive, industrial control, rail/rolling stock, or aerospace industry.
Hands-on experience of testing electric motors would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.
- Ideally a degree or similar in a relevant subject (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics, etc)
- Experience of the definition, development, planning and implementation of tests for electric motors / complex electromechanical systems
- The development of test requirements in conjunction with DVP, 8D, and FMEAs
- Able to support the build and commissioning of test systems and analysis of test data (e.g., motor controller / inverter etc)
- Experience of failure resolution / problem solving using 8D processes or similar
- Experience with originating Quality and SOP documents for Test Procedures, DVP, 8D, and FMEA
- Able to work effectively in a fast paced, small company environment in conjunction with test technicians
- Good organisational, planning and communication skills
- Able to ensure that Test Requests / Process are understood, achievable and delivered
- Able to produce test reports, test data and support DVP activities at project meetings Previous experience within an EV test environment would be preferred
Beneficial skills and experience:
- Good knowledge and experience of AC electric motors and controller powertrains
- Good electrical engineering understanding
